Lord Egerton Castle, a historical site nestled in Njoro,  Nakuru county, Kenya is more than just a grand architectural masterpiece. It is where the story of love misery, heartbreaks, and endurance lies. Built between 1938 and 1954 by Lord Maurice Egerton of Tatton, this magnificent castle was meant to win the heart of a woman he loved deeply and did all he could to own her she was called Tatiana Belosselsky-Belozersky, he started by building a two-bedroom house and he got rejected by her fiancee, he went further and build a 4 bedroom mansion only to be disapproved by her fiancee saying it was a chicken coop. Due to lord Egerton’s love and dedication to win this woman’s heart, he went ahead and built a royal class castle with 52 rooms, including a dance hall with an electric organ, a master bedroom, a children’s room, a darkroom chamber for developing photos, and other rooms but he was still rejected after all. Her rejection and the pain caused led Lord Egerton to live out his life in isolation within its vast halls. He developed a bad attitude towards women and he never allowed any woman into the castle he went to the extent of threatening to shoot any women ever seen near the castle. He lived in the castle from 1954 to 1958 when he died a sad death due to chest issues and was buried in Nakuru town Kenya. The castle was open to the public in 2005 and upto-to-date the castle stands as a monument to his devotion and solitude, its empty rooms echoing a bittersweet story of love lost. Visitors who walk through its beautifully preserved corridors can feel the weight of its history, a reminder of how even the grandest gestures cannot always change fate. This destination combines history with serene landscapes, making it a great spot for both educational and recreational activities.
